    Well based on my own experience, I can imagine parents not wanting to spend more money on shorts and thinking if they already had an approved alternative, they could just "make do" with what they had!

    Aww yes, that's really tragic. Strangely enough, earlier today I was thinking about some people who I knew from school who passed away very early in life. I was thinking how when you're altogether at school it never really occurs to you that some might not reach old age, and also that whatever happens to me from this point on, I was more fortunate than those poor souls. A poignant reminder to make the most of the time we have. ?

    Oh yes, I'd forgotten about leotards. The girls wore them at our school too; black ones. Although sadly I have no recollection of seeing them work their way into their bum cracks like one might expect they would.

    It was black gym skirts at my school too, but shorts were also permitted.  If they still fit the following year the expense of replacement was usually spared, so there was often a tendency to encounter increasingly tightening shorts as the years progressed. On one menorable occasion, in the final year during a mixed cross country run around the extensive school grounds, as we swung by the school buildings, I had strategically placed myself to jog behind two of the more attractive, popular girls in my form, and was enjoying the sight of their curvy bottoms gyrating in their tight shorts, when I heard the girls' P.E. teacher greatly enhance my already substantial thrill by yelling out at them, "Janet C and Jackie W, get your knees up and run faster or I'll pump both of your backsides!" Needless to say, is a memory that's stayed with me!

    Thanks for sharing these memories; I'm enjoying reading them as they remind me of my own. I was a bit of a duffer at P.E. too. Although I didn't realise it at the time, I would have been subconsciously attracted to the more plump girls, and delighted in glimpsing portions of their overly ripe, puppy fat bum cheeks being unable to be adequately contained and constrained by their tight bottom hugging knickers!
